Tom Hessert would not be denied. Hessert, who drove a masterful race claimed his sixth career ARCA Racing Series victory and first on dirt in Sunday night's General Tire GRABBER 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairground's 'Magic Mile'.

"This is so awesome," Hessert said in victory lane. "We've been so close on the dirt so many finally win one is just really, really cool. Very special."

Hessert overcame overheating early on in the No. 25 Detour Sunglasses Toyota to earn his first series win since driving to victory lane at Salem Speedway in September of '13.

"Crazy night. We overheated so bad over that first run...we were just nursing this thing. We had a really good race car. I knew if we could just cool it down, we could win it."

The weekend win which catapulted the Cherry Hill, NJ native into second place in the series' overall driver point standings was Hessert's first victory since joining forces with Venturini Motorsports this past off-season.

"So proud of this team," added Hessert. "Dave (Leiner) and the guys have done a heck of a job the last few races. I feel we had one taken away from us at Berlin - and we didn't roll over - we just keep pressing on. I'm gonna enjoy this one for a few days and then get ready to focus on Salem."

The next event for the ARCA Racing Series is the Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic 200 coming next Saturday night, September 10 to Salem Speedway. The event marks the 100th ARCA race at Salem since 1955.
